Today we're launching the Teifi Retail Commerce Suite: an extensibility layer that takes Shopify into service operations, multi-location inventory, and regulated checkout. One unified operating layer for the parts of retail Shopify wasn't built to handle alone.

The Suite is built from 40+ retail implementations across thousands of locations: service, franchise, liquor, specialty, and multi-location retail. Not hypothetical capabilities. Real delivery patterns hardened in production.

EY and Shopify have both confirmed it: unified commerce is no longer a competitive differentiator, it's the baseline. But for retailers running repairs, multi-store fleets, or compliance-heavy lanes, native Shopify reaches the edge of what it was built to do out of the box. Most brands fill that gap with a "fragmentation cost" of App Store plugins, manual reconciliations, and brittle middleware. The Retail Commerce Suite removes that cost.

"Businesses have chased omnichannel for years, but unified commerce is the end game."

What's in the Suite

WorkMate is the service and retail inventory operations authority. It embeds work orders, installation scheduling, labor tracking, and deposits directly into Shopify POS. Purpose-built for retailers where service is part of the transaction.

Teifi RMS is the retail management layer for operations that have outgrown native Shopify POS. It unifies inventory control, purchase orders, vendor management, employee scheduling, and multi-location reporting in a single system, alongside built-in ID verification for age-restricted retail and per-location performance analytics. The operational backbone for retailers running complex stock, staffing, and compliance requirements at scale.

Bridge is Teifi's extensibility platform: the shared architecture every Teifi product is built on and the layer that connects Shopify into the rest of the enterprise stack. It's what allows WorkMate, RMS, and ReSelly to deploy faster than custom code, and what routes Shopify data into ERPs, tax engines, OMS, and accounting systems without brittle middleware or manual exports.

ReSelly handles circular commerce: product intake, trade-in, consignment, resale, and buy-back workflows inside Shopify.

Modular by design. Retailers deploy only what the business model requires.

The framework layer

The Retail Commerce Suite operates across three layers:

Products: WorkMate, Teifi RMS, Bridge, and ReSelly deliver the core commerce capabilities.

Frameworks: Pre-built design-pattern frameworks for the operational problems every complex retailer faces: order-to-cash, multi-entity accounting, payout splitting, multi-location operations, ERP integration, finance reconciliation, audit trails, gift cards, supply chain, and data migration. These are repeatable frameworks hardened in production across 40+ implementations.

Shopify as the Commerce Operating System: Teifi defines the Commerce Operating System as the integrated suite of software applications that support a commerce organization's core functions: POS, ecommerce, OMS, ERP, inventory, payments, and analytics. Shopify is that operating system for mid-market and enterprise retail. The Retail Commerce Suite is the modular, extensible layer that takes it to full enterprise capability.

Where most retailers are, and where Teifi takes them. EY's Retail Maturity Model maps four stages: Single Channel, Multi-Channel, Omnichannel, Unified Commerce. Most complex retailers Teifi works with are at Stage 3, Omnichannel, with front-end integrations working but the back-end still fragmented. The Retail Commerce Suite closes the gap to Stage 4: a fully integrated commerce operating system with no back-end seams.

The cost of system stitching

Shopify is a world-class commerce engine. But in complex retail, commerce doesn't end at checkout, and standard configurations leave gaps in the invisible layers:

  • Service complexity. Repairs, installations, scheduling, and labor tracking inside a live POS flow.
  • Inventory disconnection. Real-time visibility across 50+ stores when ERP syncs are fragmented, requiring two systems, two logins, and two sets of training and onboarding for inventory movements.
  • Regulatory compliance. ID verification and jurisdictional tax for regulated industries without slowing the lane.
  • POS fragmentation. Disconnected hardware, software, and reporting across a multi-store fleet.

Without a unified architecture, brands bleed margin through workarounds. The Retail Commerce Suite was designed to close every one of these gaps.

EY research finds Shopify-based unified commerce delivers:

  • 22% lower TCO on average vs. the market set surveyed
  • 20% faster implementation time
  • 8.9% equivalent sales uplift annually
  • Over 150% quarterly omnichannel sales growth year over year for Shopify POS retailers
  • Up to 60% reduction in middleware costs (about $20K per year)
  • 0.4 FTE saved per store through productivity gains
  • 99.99% uptime during peak sales events

Three deployment patterns, not custom builds

Custom code creates liability. The Suite ships via three Industry Accelerators, each anchored on a specific product combination:

  1. Regulated Retail. For regulated retailers in categories like liquor, cannabis, vape, and tobacco. Combines Teifi RMS (ID verification, compliance analytics), Bridge (connection to regulated tax engines like Vertex), and Shopify Flow (cash-only lane routing, age gates, shipping restrictions). Addresses the compliance demands of age-restricted commerce that fall outside standard Shopify configuration. Regulated Retail Accelerator
  2. Service Retail. For repair, installation, and service-oriented retailers. Combines WorkMate (work orders, service scheduling), RMS (inventory, POs), and Bridge (ERP sync). Service operations live inside POS, not in a disconnected scheduling tool. Service Retail Accelerator
  3. Franchise Retail. For multi-unit franchise networks balancing HQ control with operator autonomy. Combines Teifi RMS (store-level operations), Bookkeep (multi-entity reconciliation), and Bridge (ERP and intercompany routing). Separates corporate reporting from local operational controls so HQ standards and franchisee independence coexist. Franchise Retail Accelerator

A forthcoming Back-Office / Order-to-Cash framework will deepen multi-entity accounting and finance reconciliation across the Suite.

Retail Delivery Support

The Suite isn't just software. Retail breaks on Saturdays, not Tuesdays, and adoption is the #1 reason retail tech rollouts fail. Four delivery services ship alongside the platform:

  • Hardware Provisioning & Setup. POS hardware standardized, personalized, and shipped from Teifi, ready for launch day. Most agencies don't touch hardware.
  • Custom-Built POS Extensions. Bespoke POS apps for retailer-specific workflows that go beyond productized capabilities, without leaving Shopify POS.
  • Workforce Training. Personalized playbooks built for repeatable multi-location launches. One successful store launch becomes a repeatable pattern.
  • Hypercare & Support. Hardware plus software support with onsite or virtual coverage. Floor support, first-line triage, and operations monitoring.

Proven in production: Winter Park Cycles

A specialty bike retailer running two disconnected Lightspeed systems, one for the floor and one for online, with manual cross-platform publishing, hardware-tethered inventory, and no clean audit trail for custom builds, repairs, or long-lead special orders.

Teifi migrated Winter Park Cycles to Shopify POS anchored by WorkMate in seven weeks. Work orders, purchase orders, vendor management, and inventory receiving moved into a single layer inside Shopify, with Bookkeep handling automated daily-sales postings and QuickBooks sync.

$600K processed across nearly 1,000 orders with zero chargebacks. Record sales within 90 days of launch. Tracking 2x sales growth in year one, and about $150K saved versus an agency-led implementation.

"Shopify does the front end very well. WorkMate fills that middle role, the hands-on workhorse, and then if you can push it to your accounting system, you're done." Ward Bates, Owner

Most agencies treat Shopify as a new sales channel. Teifi treats it as the commerce operating system inside a full retail transformation: the platform that replaces fragmented ERP, POS, and accounting systems, not the one that bolts onto them.

Complex retail can be too demanding for out-of-the-box. It's too fast-moving for three-year custom builds. The Retail Commerce Suite is the operating layer that closes that gap so brands that have outgrown fragmented systems can run on the most powerful commerce platform on the planet.
